PORTLAND (Aug. 22, 2012) — In the latest campaign video from the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Maine, Cynthia Dill talks about the importance of women’s issues in the upcoming 2012 national election, which she calls “the most important election” for women, their children and their families.
Dill also speaks unabashedly in the two-minute video of her commitment to take the women’s agenda to Washington, D.C., and to fight for issues of importance to women and their families in the U.S. Senate.
She also talks about the far-right’s ongoing orchestrated efforts to “take away women’s rights.”
“With Paul Ryan on the national ticket … we know that there is an agenda to take away women’s rights,” Dill says in the production. “They actually want to make it illegal for a young girl who’s been raped by her father to get an abortion.“People don’t want to talk about that, but that’s what’s at stake.”
Earlier this week, Dill released a statement about remarks made by by U.S. Rep. Todd Akin, R-Mo., concerning rape victims. That statement, can be found here.
