Bowdoin College wants to buy a former assisted-living home on Harpswell Road and convert it into student dormitory housing.
Through hearings and other public forums, the town should be able to allay neighborhood concerns while approving the zone change to help make the dorm a reality.
It wouldn’t change the character of the area. It would help the college — a big driver of Brunswick’s economy and culture. And it would showcase the spirit of cooperation that has marked “town-gown” relations here for years.
Generally speaking, if Bowdoin builds it, Brunswick benefits.
