Incoming students from 14 countries, 30 states welcomed to campus for college’s 43rd year

BAR HARBOR, MAINE — College of the Atlantic will celebrate the opening of its 43rd year with convocation ceremonies at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, followed by the traditional Bar Island swim and a picnic.

In all, the college is welcoming 110 new students — 81 first-years, 24 transfers, and five graduate students — who join 271 returning undergraduates and graduate students on the COA campus this year.

The new incoming students come from all over the world, with COA boasting one of the highest percentages of international students — 20% — of any school in the country. New undergraduate students hail from 14 countries and 30 states, with 16% from Maine, 36% from New England (including Maine), 13% from the mid-Atlantic, 12% from the West, 11% from the South, 6% from the Midwest, and 4%…
